We are frequently hiring for kitchen and front of house positions. If interested, EMAIL a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
But first, some tips and thoughts…
— Please send a relevant resume, highlighting your experience with food, coffee, retail, customer service, etc. Although we love reading about how much you really want to work in TV or theater, we might not believe you really want to work for us. It’s seriously worth the effort.
— We do not have after-school shifts or short shifts for people who just want a little something to fill the day. We are open 7 days a week and require everyone to cover weekend shifts.
— If your mom or friend or dad or aunt comes in and asks for a job for you, we will throw your resume away. Because it shows us that they want the job more than you do.
— If you print a copy of your resume and leave it with a staff member when they tell you to email us, they will throw the resume away. Seriously, email us. We have our reasons.
— If you email us and then email us again the next day to demand to know why we haven’t emailed you back yet, we’ll probably throw away your resume. Because we’ll think you are disrespectful and rude. And no one likes to work with rude people. If we don’t get back to you within a week after emailing us your resume, you can gently follow up, because we probably lost the email while taking out the garbage, making coffee, and helping customers.
— High School Students: due to the intense nature of the training, we don’t hire students until the summer after their junior year. Our shifts are long and demanding, and we think better suited to slightly older students. Because we have so few positions for high school students, and the training is intense, we ask that any students who work for us in the summer commit to working through the school year on weekends.
— We love a sense of humor…if you clean and work while you joke. We love people who love coffee and good food. Because that’s what we serve all day. We especially love people who love mornings. We like people who can talk to other people. And smile. We really love people who want to work. We like people who read all the way to the bottom of the instructions because we know they’ll follow the rules. We think we like you now. You should email us a resume. Because what’s more fun than working in a cool cafe and hanging out with other people who like to do the same?
