Katonah Reading Room is announcing our book event series, “Diverse Voices Story Time” (via zoom). The Reading Room is launching this initiative to put diverse faces and diverse books in front of families in an effort to promote community and understanding. We feel that especially now, with so many kids learning from home, creating a space where they see new faces, come to understand different life experiences, and have some FUN with reading, is of the utmost importance. Kids are missing out on shared interactions, they are missing important social growth, and are tending to spend time only with their families, making their worlds very small.
The Reading Room will offer customers the opportunity to purchase the story time book choices ahead (support your local bookstore and our programming), a portion of the proceeds will go to each reader’s choice of charity (support great non-profits), and kids will be able to find a new favorite book, pick up their book in a fun space, and their parents will get an activity to look forward to that is new and engaging and lovely! Wins all around.

If you are not local but would like to order the books, you can purchase online through our shop on Bookshop.org No purchase needed to join the story time, but if you can afford to support our bookstore and the charity in this way, we hope you will – plus what a great way to get diverse books on your children’s shelves!
